Logan Airport Done Right
Logan is closer to downtown than almost any major US airport — 15 to 30 minutes — and yet it produces outsized transportation misery. The reason is geography: water on every side, and every route funneling through tunnels.
The tunnel problem
The Ted Williams, Sumner, and Callahan tunnels are the only ways across the harbor, and at rush hour they meter the whole city's airport traffic. A good driver knows which tunnel wins at which hour — and when the Tobin around the top beats them all.
Terminal notes
- Terminal E (international) — the rideshare scrum after a long-haul arrival is grim. Meet & greet with a name sign inside arrivals is the move.
- Terminals A–C — tighter curbs; curbside pickup works if you're carry-on light and communicative.
- Winter — Boston snow days break app-based dispatch first. Pre-booked cars with committed drivers keep showing up.
Beyond the city: Cambridge runs add 10 minutes; Providence about an hour; Cape traffic is its own season. All flat-rate quoted upfront.
