Koast wants you to know that we value the privacy of your information and will not sell or market your personal information to any other company. However, certain profile information may be used to create specific messages or advertising to you as described further in this privacy policy.
Koast and/or its corporate affiliates and/or subsidiaries (collectively "Koast," "us," or "we") collects information about you when you use our mobile applications, websites, and other online products and services provided by Koast (collectively, the "Services"), and through other interactions and communications that you may have with us. This Privacy Policy describes how Koast collects and uses the personal information that you provide through the Services, the choices available to you regarding our use of your personal information, and how you can access and update this information.
This Privacy Policy applies to persons who use our application or access our Services to request transportation, delivery, or other services ("Clients"). It does not apply to information that we collect from or about vehicle drivers, couriers, partner transportation companies, or any other persons or entities (collectively "Drivers"). If you interact with the Services as both a Client and a Driver, the applicable Privacy Policy applies to your different interactions respectively.
Information you provide to us. We only collect information that you directly provide, such as when you create or modify your account, request on-demand services, contact customer support, or otherwise communicate with us. This may include: name, email, phone number, postal address, profile picture, payment method, and other information you choose to provide. You can choose not to provide certain information, but then you may not be able to take advantage of many features, including receiving pricing or making a reservation. To use the Services you must first create an account by providing your first and last name, email, and phone number. You may also supply information by participating in a contest or questionnaire, communicating with customer service, providing employer information for a corporate account, providing reviews, or using notification services. We use this information for our general commercial purposes, including responding to your requests, improving and customizing future Services, and communicating with you.
Information we collect through your use of the Services:
Information from other sources. We may receive information from other sources and combine it with information collected through the Services — for example, from a linked payment provider or social media service, from your employer if it uses one of our enterprise solutions, from Drivers who provide a user rating after a trip, or from your interactions with the Services in another capacity.
We may use the information we collect about you to: provide, maintain, and improve the Services (including facilitating payments, sending receipts, providing requested services, developing new and safety features, authenticating Clients, and sending product updates and administrative messages); perform internal operations (fraud prevention, troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, and monitoring usage trends); send or facilitate communications between you and a Driver (such as ETAs) or between you and your contacts at your direction; send you communications we think will interest you, including products, services, promotions, news, and events, where permissible under applicable law, and process promotion entries and awards; and personalize and improve the Services, including features, content, social connections, referrals, and advertisements.
We may transfer, process, and store information in the United States and other countries, some of which may have less protective data protection laws than your region. Where this is the case, we take appropriate measures to protect your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
We may share your information: with Drivers to enable the transportation services you request (for example your name, photo if provided, average user rating, and pickup/drop-off locations); with other Clients if using a ride-sharing option, or with people you direct us to share with (such as ETA sharing or fare splitting); with third parties to provide a Service you requested through a partnership or promotional offering; with the general public if you submit content to a public forum; with third parties you authorize, such as apps integrating with our API; with third parties to display or manage advertising (you may opt out of interest-based use of your information on other websites; you will continue to receive generic advertisements); and with your employer and necessary third parties (such as expense management providers) if you participate in our enterprise solutions. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
We may also share your information: with Koast affiliates and subsidiaries; with independent third-party transportation providers and logistics providers ("Transport Providers") providing services through the Services; with entities that conduct data processing on our behalf; with vendors, consultants, and marketing partners who need access to carry out work on our behalf; in response to a request by a competent authority where disclosure is in accordance with or required by law; with law enforcement or other parties if we believe your actions are inconsistent with our agreements or policies, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Koast or others; in connection with any merger, sale of assets, consolidation, restructuring, financing, or acquisition; with your consent; and in aggregated and/or anonymized form which cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
The Services may integrate with social sharing features that let you share actions you take on our Services with other apps, sites, or media. Use of such features enables sharing with your friends or the public depending on your settings with the social sharing service — refer to their privacy policies. Analytics and advertising services may use cookies, web beacons, SDKs, and other technologies to identify your device when you visit our site and other online services, for audience measurement and to serve and measure advertisements on our behalf.
We will only use your mobile phone numbers with explicit consent provided through our services or via our website. We use the information you provide through the program to transmit your mobile messages and respond to you, which may include sharing with platform providers, phone companies, and other vendors who assist in message delivery. We do not share phone numbers collected through the program with any third party, though we reserve the right to disclose information as necessary to satisfy any law, regulation, or governmental request, avoid liability, or protect our rights or property. When you provide information in connection with the program, you agree to provide accurate, complete, and true information and not to use a false or misleading name. If we believe information is untrue or you opted in for an ulterior purpose, we may refuse access to the program and pursue appropriate legal remedies.
Account information: you may correct your account information at any time by logging into your Koast account. To cancel your account, contact us at reserve@koastride.com. We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
Access rights: Koast will comply with individuals' requests regarding access, correction, objection, and/or deletion of the personal data it stores in accordance with applicable law.
Location information: you can disable collection of precise location via your device settings, though this limits certain features and does not limit collection of trip location from a Driver's device or approximate location from your IP address.
Promotional communications: opt out by following the "unsubscribe" instructions in those messages. We may still send non-promotional communications about your account, requested services, or ongoing business relations.
California law permits residents of California to request certain details about how their information is shared with third parties for direct marketing purposes. Koast does not share your personally identifiable information with third parties for the third parties' direct marketing purposes unless you provide us with consent to do so.
We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes in the way we treat your personal information, we will provide you notice through the Services or by some other means, such as email.
