Castello di Amorosa opened in 2007 after Dario Sattui spent more than a decade building an authentically styled, 13th-century-inspired Tuscan castle using period materials and methods.
The 121-room castle has a drawbridge, moat, towers, a frescoed great hall, and a vast barrel cellar — a destination as much for the architecture as the wine, and a hit with families.
Italian-leaning reds lead the list — including the La Castellana Super Tuscan-style blend and Il Barone Cabernet — alongside whites, rosé, and sparkling, many sold only at the castle. Tours and tastings are by reservation.
Worth knowing: One of the most elaborate castle wineries in North America, built over roughly 14 years.
